FCRA Disclosure
1. Background Check Disclosure
Knock AI may obtain a consumer report and/or investigative consumer report about you from Checkr, Inc. or another consumer reporting agency for employment-related purposes—in this case, evaluation of your eligibility to perform canvassing services as an independent contractor on the platform.
The report may include information about your character, general reputation, personal characteristics, and mode of living, which may include criminal history, identity verification, and motor vehicle records where applicable.
2. Your Authorization
By submitting a canvasser application, you authorize Knock AI and its designated agents to obtain consumer reports and investigative consumer reports about you at any time after receipt of this authorization and throughout your relationship with the platform, to the extent permitted by law.
3. Summary of Rights Under the FCRA
Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (15 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq.), you have the right to:
- Know if information in your file has been used against you. Anyone who uses a consumer report to take adverse action against you must tell you, and must give you the name, address, and phone number of the agency that provided the information.
- Know what is in your file. You may request and obtain all information about you in a consumer reporting agency's files (with proper identification). In many cases, this disclosure is free once every 12 months.
- Ask for a credit score. Not applicable to all background checks, but you may request a credit score from consumer reporting agencies that produce scores.
- Dispute incomplete or inaccurate information. A consumer reporting agency must investigate items you dispute, usually within 30 days, unless your dispute is frivolous.
- Consent required for reports to employers. A consumer reporting agency may not provide information about you to an employer or prospective employer without your written consent.
- Seek damages. You may sue in state or federal court for violations of the FCRA.
4. Adverse Action
If Knock AI takes adverse action based in whole or in part on a consumer report, you will receive a notice including the name and contact information of the consumer reporting agency, a statement that the agency did not make the decision, and notice of your right to obtain a free copy of the report and dispute its accuracy.
5. Checkr Contact
Checkr, Inc. — https://checkr.com — can be contacted for copies of your report or to dispute information contained therein.
